Life Sucks!!

That’s not a good Tagline to start a post. But , when things around you don’t fall into place you don’t have any choice but to blame the sweet little thing.. Life :)

I have been trying to connect the internet for the last half an hour, but the message “PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED” gets flashed and I kept clicking the refresh till finally the internet showed some mercy on me. Then when I start writing this article my stomach starts trying to draw my attention towards it by no other noble way, but by aching. And when I think of treating it with some cold curds, I find none in the fridge.
Subsequently when I open my Orkut account I get confused by the fact that- "How come my profile on others friend’s list shows 90 friends, whereas 89 on mine".........

I know how silly these things are. But each moment of our life is filled with such things that seemingly are so silly and insignificant in nature, but draw a major power of our brain and eat away so much of our time that we keep wondering how the 86,400 seconds of the day just pass by.

Its 1:00 AM IST, and am just back after my regular Friday night coffee meet with my friends. But, the talks today were not the usual stupid once but about the MONEY and LIFE balance in one’s life.

One of my pals bagged a classic job recently with a fat package that draws him thrice than his previous company, but leaves him with one-third of life’s time for himself. Today he has more than he needs but has no time to spend. Well, this is not an alien situation of life to us.

Work and Money are penetrating so much into our brains that we have forgotten to take a note of the sun that rises every morning. It might have been years ago when we last saw the beautiful dark sky full of stars and the moon smiling at us. It might have been decades when we would have got awake after hearing the birds chirping in the morning. What we hear today is the honks of the dairy trucks that have to reach their destinations of milk centers by 5:30 AM.

Life has changed. Money, success and work has taken over the front seat. I am not complaining because one cannot be happy in life if he does not have these three components in his journey. But, what makes me sad is the fact that we have lost on the balance that a happy life demands.

Family takes a back seat. The morning jog is something we postpone to after-retirement because how can we expect to get up in the morning if we sleep at 2:00 AM in the night. Friends who were once so close to our heart, we seldom remember to even wish then on their birthday. The practice of reading novel at night before sleep that we once had is lost somewhere down the line.

We are earning for what, for whom? I think the direct answer of this is- for ourselves. But, are we getting happier? Are we getting healthier? Are we having better raised kids? Are we having time for our own selves? No.The answer is a big NO.

Undoubtedly, life has given us just one chance and we ought to make the best out of it. We should try to be as wealthy as we can, as successful as we can, as learnt as we can. But , not at the cost of the present.

When death knocks at the door, I think we will not think about the Ph.D that we could not do, or the Mercedez Benz we could not buy, or the bank balance that is deposited at the ICICI bank. But, rather we would just plead life to give us some few more seconds to spend with our loved ones. You would curse yourself over the fact that you spent all your life over all the seemingly important things but forgot to love the ones that mattered to you so much.

Take some time out form the 86,400 seconds of one day. Appreciate nature. Go to your house’s terrace at night and count the stars the way you did when you were a kid. Try locating the rabbit in the Moon who is sleeping quietly over there since the time you have seen the moon. Try taking out time to just sit by the sea-shore and look at the sunrise. And, if you have no sea shore then your window should not be a bad option either.

These things sound very poetic and impractical in this busy and competitive life, but they make you realize that this universe is so BIG, so BIG and so BIG and we are just a small atom in it, and our worries and sorrows are even smaller. Being with the nature for some time every day will makes us expand our soul and makes us understand that how small our imaginations and worries are and we should stop bothering ourselves with these minute things.

In that silence, we can question ourselves what and why are we doing what we are doing rather that just being in the rat race and following every rat around us.I believe, it will make us happier because then we will know what work-life balance we should have so that we can live the best out of this moment.

Success is the most important thing in our lives because, it increase our self worth in others eyes and that makes us happy, as we seldom measure ourselves with our own eyes, but with the eyes of others. So, be successful, be rich , have fame but just don’t forget to smile when a child smiles at you. Don’t forget to stop your car when you see a blind crossing the road. Don’t forget to have coffee with your friend on the Friday weekend. Don’t forget to call your friend with whom you had a fight long time ago and you didn’t say “I AM SORRY” because you were too egoistic to say so. Wherever you are, don’t forget to call your parents who are the soul reason for your existence. If you have child don’t ignore to listen to the silliest of things he or she has to say to you. Answer to that sms that your friend sent to you but you didn’t bother to answer.
So, all the best for the Successful, Rich and Powerful life that each of us are going to have, but now with a difference where we live each day without forgetting our loved ones, our parents, our children, the moon , the stars , the chirping of the birds………..so that we never ever say.... LIFE SUCKS :)
