Dont know why.....

“I don’t know why… but am Sad” ......lately I have come across many folks telling me this. They are upset, and the worst part of it is that they don’t know the reason for it. However, I was not surprised at that, but instead was upset to seldom find someone whom I met saying “I don’t know why… but am so happy!!!”

The crux of it is that we need no reason to be sad, but we need a reason to be happy. Have we ever imagined how life would be if we were by default happy and only would need an occasional reason to be sad and not the other way round?

I read once somewhere that we are not the body and are actually souls and the true nature of a soul is bliss. I have been struggling to find people around me who truly are so enlightened that they recognize this truth in themselves…. And whenever I find one like that its turns out be a baby who is still ignorant enough to understand the issues of life. How funny it is… the baby grows old to learn how to be sad and loses its implicit smile that he used to always have when he was an infant.

A few days ago an earthquake shocked Delhi…. I was sleeping and suddenly felt that am shaking… after 20 seconds when I realized I was in a hurry to get out of the house to save nothing but just one small thing which I treasure the most…. Life…. Yes it was just a Life which I ran out with…. No wallets… no mobiles… no nothing…. But just one small thing called Life.

So, we all realize perfectly well how transient this life is….. it will not even give us a 60 sec notice to pack up our bags OR to meet our loved ones OR to empty our bank accounts OR to accomplish our unrealized dreams….. but the fact is that it will come and surely come … and also the second fact is that we all want to live for ever…. So in this battle of life and death….. death will just win once and in that instant we will be helpless and will need to surrender.

But before that moment comes what matters now is how we live each of these moments…. the life we fill in each second that passes by….. what counts is the joy and contentment with which we live this instant… the smiles we pumped into our souls.

We often see actors dying on screen, but we don’t mourn for them… we never do that because we understand that it’s just a play with no real significance….. similarly if we keep the same attitude towards life and take each problem, sorrow or failure with the same spirit, we can probably add many more smiles to our lives and to the lives of the folks around us.

To conclude, would just like to share a quote that I saw under the official signature of a colleague: “You can be right all of the time; Or You Can Be Happy The Choice is yours” . Well, I don’t undermine the importance to be right but just re-emphasize the point that if being or trying to be right all the time makes one sad, then one should better consider the option of rather being happy all the time, because that is very much the utter-most motive of this life.

At the end, this life will only turn out to be a journey without any destination. The seemingly destinations that we set for ourselves are nothing but just mile-stones which pass by the journey…. So Just like the mile-stones never end in a journey the desires and destinations will never will. Therefore, lets make this journey a remarkable one irrespective of number of mile-stones we pass by.

I don't know why but I've been feeling happy today, really! isn't that a coincidence!? ;)... Maybe the reason has been no other than a lovely blue sky that had been missing for some days... I love your writings and keep clicking on your page to check whether there is some new inspiring post... Take care, and as they are approaching, Merry Christmas and a Happy New New Year! You are probably not Christian, but well, good wishes are meant for everyone... Good night!

Well, I'd like to say two things buddy.

Let's not compare 'being happy all the time' to the happiness that we have in this world. That is like an ocean and permanent and the latter is like a drop and it is transient.

How if this world is filled with happiness all the time and no sadness? Wouldn't we be bored? That's the obvious question. The answer is no. We wouldn't be bored. We have permananent enjoyment But the enjoyment keeps changing..not to sadness but to another way of enjoyment.

But this permananent enjoyment can be experienced by the soul, not by the body, because the body itself is temporary. And the soul is permananent. This has been said by great great acharyas of India like Ramanujacharya,Chaitanya Mahaprabu and Madvacharya and Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita.

So the basis of permananent enjoyment is the understanding that we, everyone in the world including plants and animals, are spirit souls and not the body. And permanent enjoyment is not boring. it is of a different kind that we have not experienced till now. This is confirmed in the BG by Krishna.

Care to know more, let me know.
