The Life of a LASER....
What is the difference between a Laser and any other light. The Laser knows where is it heading to, and will make to it, by hook or by crook, where as, any other light will be obstructed and stopped by any object on its way. It will give way to nothing but a dark shadow, where as the laser will complete the work for which it started from the source. Let it be cutting a sheet of metal, or correcting an eye cornea.
Our life is synonymous to the journey of a light. We started from the source, which was our mother’s womb and since that day we are moving ahead, marching ahead. What we do with the obstacles that come on our way is not decided by the obstacles, but by the impact of the light within us. Whether we have the thrust of a Laser, or we are just a blurring torch light will decide of whether we cut through the metal or just fall as a piece of shadow.
Knowing where we are heading to, is one of the most important part of a journey. We spend 1/3rd of our lives sleeping, the other 1/3rd for personal associations and the last but not the least 1/3rd in the journey, called Karma.
The actions each of do as a part of our profession varies. Some make sales presentations, some run Unix scripts, some compile Java code and the list is infinite. But the underlying aspect that lies beneath all this is the energy and enthusiasm it creates in us and the spirit that we put in our work, our Karma. Every night when we sleep, the thing that gives us immense satisfaction, is the fact that the day has raised the spirit in us and has evolved us in some or the other aspect.
Life is a long journey, and work-life is a strong and significant component of it. In this long journey, every now and then we will come across humps and milestones, but the journey is a long one and these milestones, humps or ditches should never deviate us from the life-long term vision that we have for us. Just couple of days back we all received our Appraisals. Some got A, some B, some C and so on.... Can just an alphabet define us? Can just a A speak for all the spirit that lies within me?.... ‘No’, of course ‘No’... We are bigger, much bigger that just an alphabet. These alphabets will come every year ,every March, but the work that we are born to do, is a never-ending expedition. Yes, of course an ‘A’ can give a second of smile on our faces, and may be a ‘D’ was an indication that we need to improve, but it never should make us loose precious moments of life thinking much about it. We work for our selves, for our sprits, not for appraisals. As they say, ‘WOrk is Worship’.
Appraisal is just a reward for the work that we did. If one feels that he has been awarded well, nothing like it, but if he hasn’t then I guess, one should not cry much over the spilt milk, and as I said we are not alphabets, but spirits, whose capacity is unimaginable and boundless.
A couple of days before, the blasts in the Jaipur took away so many innocent lives.Many dreams would have been shattered in just a couple of seconds. I am not saying that one should be or can be prepared to die, but thinking about the fallacy of life, makes us look at life in a much broader perspective. It will make us spend each day with a thought that I have to give my best today!!.... I have to live to the fullest today... Having such an outlook towards life can beautify every second of the work we do. It will just not be a presentation or a script that we would run or a code that we would compile. But, it would be an act that would not only involve our energy, but also our spirits. And, such a Karma would always be of the highest form.
At the end ....Arise ...Awake and ...Stop not till the GOAL is reached !! ..... What is our goal is what we all have to look for.... what is it that will make us feel worth of ourselves when we close our eyes to sleep every night....
As, I said a Laser knows its Goal... and once you know your goal, nothing or no one can stop you from reaching it... its just a matter or time and perseverance before the metal is cut and the Laser reaches its destination !!
